If you request a users email address on your website to enter a blog comments, review a product, request support, etc, it is paramount that you let your customers know you are in receipt of their information. How do you do this? Simple, send them an automated email. Recent research has indicated that users are more likely to respond to these emails as opposed to mass or unsolicited emails. These emails are let your users know their information is safe and you can confirm what will be done with it. You may also want to consider sending a first-order discount if you sell online, your contact information, links to your blog, Twitter and/or FaceBook presence.
