One major problem that bad websites have is clutter. A website needs to be clear and presentable. However, many websites have pages that are filled with so many images, videos, and text that it becomes almost impossible for the visitor to know what he or she is supposed to do. When there is too much going on, the visitor will leave rather than trying to figure out what to do. Today’s world is one of immediate decisions. A website has to make its purpose clear from the moment the visitor arrives.

2. Not Mobile Optimized

It’s no secret that mobile traffic is growing more and more every year. No matter what the purpose of your website is, you can count on a lot of your traffic coming from mobile. While clutter is a big problem for some websites, other websites are bad because they don’t have enough information. No matter what your industry is, you need to provide your visitors with value. Your website should be able to answer the questions your visitors have. If you don’t have adequate information, your visitors will leave quickly.

4. Broken Links and Outdated Features

Another common trait of bad websites is having things that just don’t work. When a website has broken links or videos that don’t load, a visitor is going to look for this information elsewhere. Very few people are going to stick around to try to figure out what went wrong.

5. Slow Load Time

The world we live in moves at hyper speed. Bad websites often lose visitors because the pages load too slowly. Very few visitors are going to wait ten seconds for your page to load. Even five seconds might be too long. The longer it takes your visitors to see what you have to offer, the more likely they are to leave before you have the chance to show them.

In order for a website to convert, it needs to present quality information in a timely fashion. Failure to do so will result in a bad website with few visitors who stick around.
